My paintings and sculptures are a study of relationships and unspoken exchanges ranging from the intimacy between loved ones to the anonymity between strangers. I also explore the perspective of the onlooker. The boundaries of my paintings create mystery by leaving things unsaid and the figures incomplete. I take the viewer beyond the canvas so that they begin to think less about the painting and more about who is in the painting and what those people are experiencing. It is a meaningful absence I try to represent in my work. My most consistent inspiration is the people I see all around me: strangers, friends, and family.
